OFFENSE · VOLUME + EFFICIENCYOffense weights scoring volume most: PTS/G 35%; AST/G and 3PM/G 10% each; TS% 15%; eFG% 10%; 3P%, assist ratio, AST/TO, and inverse TO ratio 5% each. This keeps a high-volume scorer from being buried by several overlapping shooting percentages.
DEFENSE · 5 BOX-SCORE SIGNALSDefense gives equal weight to STL/G, BLK/G, defensive REB/G, total REB/G, and STL/TO. It uses per-game impact rather than per-48 rates, which can exaggerate short-minute roles. These are box-score indicators, not opponent tracking.
OVERALL · OUR RANKINGOnly players with at least 20 NBA games are ranked. Overall score = 45% offense + 30% defense + 25% PER, with all component percentiles compared only among qualifying players. This is a per-game impact model, not an official NBA or ESPN rating.

This ESPN season feed includes PER plus the metrics shown above, but does not expose NBA tracking or lineup metrics such as Defensive Rating (DRTG), Offensive Rating (ORTG), Net Rating, Box Plus/Minus, RAPTOR, matchup field-goal defense, contested shots, or deflections. NBA Rating and plus-minus above are separate ESPN-reported fields; they are not substitutes for those metrics. Usage rate is omitted when ESPN reports zero/unavailable values. Some supplemental feed fields can be unavailable for individual players.
